Valhalla, meaning “heavenly place” in Norwegian, is a lakefront historic estate and truly a romantic setting for a wedding.
Built in 1924, this historic, beautifully detailed wood and stone hall features a wrap-around porch that with lakefront views and dock. Four sets of French doors open onto the porch, the Grand lawn, and frame the gorgeous lake views. A massive 20-foot tall stone fireplace and walk-in hearth anchors the Grand Hall and a second floor balcony offers opportunities to see and be seen during the festivities.
Valhalla’s Grand Hall is located on the Tallac Historic Site, on the southwest shore of Lake Tahoe just north of Camp Richardson Resort on Highway 89. Turn right at the Valhalla sign and follow the road to the right. Road circles right in front of the Grand Hall for loading and unloading.
To comply with Forest Service regulations, wedding ceremonies are held indoors. Receptions may include outdoor access within guidelines established by the Forest Service. Valhalla produces a cultural arts event from July through August, but there are some dates available for weddings or events. Contact our Wedding Director and see if your date is available!
2019 Rental fees
Rental fee: May 11 – December 14, 2019
Valhalla is closed mid-December 2018 – May 10, 2019
Friday & Saturday: $8000 (10 hours minimum), $600 for each additional hour.
Sunday: $6500 (6 hours minimum), $600 for each additional hour.
Monday through Thursday: $1800 (3 hours minimum), $600 for each additional hour.
$750 Winter Fee: April, May, Nov., and Dec. (possible snow removal and propane costs).
$200 One Hour Rehearsal Fee (available times are 9:00AM or 10:00AM the day before your wedding. Times may be secured 60 days prior to the wedding date).
$1000 refundable security deposit (this will be returned to you no earlier than 30 days post wedding date if your event did not cause damage or break the regulations or rules).
Rental includes on site chairs, tables and full use of Grand Lawn, weather permitting.
In late November through December, the Grand Hall will be fully decorated for the Holiday Season. The holiday decorations will not be removed for any rental during that time period.
120 person maximum guest count for wedding events to include wedding party, children & infants.
Set-up and clean-up is the responsibility of the renting party.
$1000.00 refundable cleaning/damage deposit required 60 days before event date.
A limited number of events at reduced rates can be scheduled for nonprofits and government agencies.
